CARING FOR AND LOOKING AFTER GARMENTS
The exceptional quality of the numerous components which make up a Peuterey garment ensures that these last through the seasons, without ever losing their original performance features. If the garment is correctly cleaned and cared for, it will maintain its appearance and functionality for many years. Below are a number of tables showing symbols and captions relating to garment washing, drying and ironing.
FEATHER PADDED GARMENTS
It is important to follow the washing, drying and ironing directions found on the label of every single piece so that proper treatment that respects the fabrics and padding (feather and synthetic) is ensured. It is recommended to not let the garment become too dirty before washing it. Before proceeding, it is recommended to protect the zip pulls from scratching by covering them with aluminum foil, close buttons and zips, remove any fur inserts and wash the piece inside-out. Fabric softener is recommended against as it might cause the seams to yield over time. It is necessary to not use too much detergent to prevent the padding from becoming compact. Bleach or chlorine-based products must not be used, and the piece must not be left to soak. Repeat rinsing until the water turns crystal clear. Incomplete rinsing may leave marks on the fabrics. If using a dryer (tumbler), it is recommended to dry at low temperature using dryer balls so that the padding gets back its original volume. If a dryer is not used, shake the garment to air it and help the padding become redistributed, then lay it flat away from direct sunlight. This operation should be repeated periodically until the garment is completely dry. For ironing, following the directions on the label in order to not damage the fabric. Dry cleaning is allowed only if explicitly indicated. When rearranging the wardrobe for the change of seasons, it is recommended to stow the garments in a cotton bag. In this way, that they do not absorb dust and moisture as air can ventilate.
GARMENTS WITH TEFLON® TREATMENT
Garments treated with Teflon® Fabric Protector do not require any special attention: to clean them, simply wash them normally. Liquid stains can be easily eliminated with a cloth, while to remove dry dirt, simply use a brush. It is always best to follow the instructions on the labels of the individual garments. Teflon® treatment makes fabrics resistant to the penetration of liquids, dirt, stains and dust, and therefore reduces washing frequency and temperature, the use of detergents and drying time. By reducing washing and rubbing, the garments maintain a new appearance for longer. The treatment is integrated in the fabric and therefore continues to protect it over the years, wash after wash.
FURS
To ensure furs reacquire volume and softness, simply brush them, just like you brush your hair. For deeper cleaning, make use of specialized centres. Never wash at home due to risk of damage.
