CARING FOR AND LOOKING AFTER GARMENTS

The exceptional quality of the numerous components which make up a Peuterey garment ensures that these last through the seasons, without ever losing their original performance features.

If the garment is correctly cleaned and cared for, it will maintain its appearance and functionality for many years.

Below are a number of tables showing symbols and captions relating to garment washing, drying and ironing.

Feather padded garments

It is most important to always follow the washing, drying and ironing instructions on the label of each single garment, to ensure the correct treatment of fabrics and feather padding.

Avoid the garment becoming too dirty before washing.

Feather padded garments can be washed at home, in a washing machine, or taken to a specialized laundry.

Before proceeding to wash at home, it is advisable to remove the fur from the garment and protect the zip-pull, by covering it with sheets of aluminium, to avoid its being scratched.

The use of fabric softener is not recommended because, over time, it could weaken the stitches.

Do not use bleach or chlorine-based products, as these would seriously damage the feathers.

The garment must be rinsed several times, until the water runs clear. Incomplete washing and rinsing can leave marks on the fabric.

Place the washed garment in the dryer for 20 minutes, so it is reconditioned and the feathers return to their original volume.

If you do not have a dryer, shake the washed garment to air it and favour the redistribution of the feathers; now lay it out flat, but without exposing it to direct sunlight. Periodically repeat the operation until the garment is completely dry. If the feathers remain compact, take the garment to a laundry for a drum drying cycle.

To iron, follow the instructions on the label of each garment, so as not to risk damaging the fabric.

Dry cleaning is only allowed for those garments which offer this option on the label.

When putting away winter clothing for the summer, padded garments are best wrapped in cotton fabric, so they do not absorb dust and damp, and are well aired.

Garments with Teflon® treatment

Garments treated with Teflon® Fabric Protector do not require any special attention: to clean them, simply wash them normally. Liquid stains can be easily eliminated with a cloth, while to remove dry dirt, simply use a brush.

It is always best to follow the instructions on the labels of the individual garments.

Teflon® treatment makes fabrics resistant to the penetration of liquids, dirt, stains and dust, and therefore reduces washing frequency and temperature, the use of detergents and drying time.

By reducing washing and rubbing, the garments maintain a new appearance for longer. The treatment is integrated in the fabric and therefore continues to protect it over the years, wash after wash.

Furs

To ensure furs reacquire volume and softness, simply brush them, just like you brush your hair. For deeper cleaning, make use of specialized centres. Never wash at home due to risk of damage.
